World Elephant Day: The Great Heir of the Child Mind… Forests .. !!

World Elephant Day: The Great Heir of the Child Mind… Forests .. !!

World Elephant Day is observed today to create awareness among the people about the protection of elephants.

Big legs, wide ears, hymns, ivory, although it is difficult to see, except for the time when the ‘religion’ likes to listen to what is said parama sadhu. Elephants are a creature that amazes everyone, young and old, regardless of age.

Every day in search of food and water the elephant walks several kilometers in the wild on its migratory route. Elephants play a major role in spreading the seed from one area to another. The character traits of such elephants are interesting.

The elephant is a plant-eating mammal.  The longest days are those that can live up to a maximum of 70 years.

Elephants are very strong. Even lions, tigers, etc., which are high in the food hierarchy of predators and wildlife, have immense strength. The lions come together and kill the tired or young elephant that may come alone. However, such cases are rare. Elephants live as a family. Also, these have high memory power.

Three secret species of elephants remain in the world today.  There are special differences between these. In general, all elephants live to be about 70 years old.

Elephants, which are less able to see naturally, exchange information through touch, sighting, noise, whispering, and the smell of elephants. Capable of smelling up to one km.

Elephants are active above 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening. Its average weight is 4,000 kg. The weight of the skin alone is 1,000 kg. Drink up to 200 liters of water daily. Elephants are usually standing and lying down to sleep. The human, elephant, and dolphin are considered to be the most intelligent animal, as is the emotion center in the brain. Memory power is high.

Only the elephant's claws secrete sweat. Due to the roughness of the skin, it does not secrete elsewhere, so to keep the body temperature constant, the blood vessels in the ear continue to swell. This will reduce the body temperature to 1 degree Celsius. Also, to reduce body heat, it can be treated by spraying water on top of it, soaking it in soil, and swallowing saliva.

Other animals can easily navigate the new trails that make up the elephant in the wild. Declining elephant habitat, food shortages, water pollution, pesticides, illegal electric fences, poaching, train and vehicle accidents are leading to an increase in elephant deaths.

In Tamil Nadu, elephant deaths are frequent in the forests and rural areas of Coimbatore, Sathyamangalam, Nilgiris and Krishnagiri. According to information gathered by many elephant researchers, 13 thousand elephants have died in Tamil Nadu in the 10 years from 2010 to 2019. Of the 427 male elephants, 575 female elephants, 16 have died as a result of the body being found in a decomposing state.

We need to realize that we all have a duty to protect the elephants that are the source of forest formation. On World Elephant Conservation Day, we will play our part in protecting elephants that are supportive of herbivores and other animals and pledge to protect elephants from encroaching on their routes.
